Forcing Creativity to Force a Shift by Rina Jakubowicz

creativity-takes-courage

As I lay here pondering what to write about for my next blog, I realize that I’ve been in a creative fog. I can’t really get inspired to write about anything in particular so I’ve procrastinated writing this all week and all day. (It’s due today.)

As I lay here at 11:33pm at night trying to fall asleep, it dawns on me… Rina, just start writing and speak the truth about your cloudiness. Something will come out of it anyway and a shift will happen in your writing because of it. Or so I hope.

Thus, here I am.
Writing to you without knowing exactly what the purpose of it is… But I trust.
I know that ultimately it’s not about it being a masterpiece of a blog post but rather an expression of taking action even when it seems that an action shouldn’t be taken or you don’t know where to start.
I met a lady this weekend at the Telluride Yoga Festival who literally said, “I’m 50 years old and I want to know what I should do next in order to help myself. But I want it fast!” To which I answered, “There’s no quick fix. It’s takes the daily application and the daily studying of the teachings without focusing on the result.” She understood theoretically but I could tell it didn’t sink in fully. Just the desire to change is important at least to spark the curiosity of something more. Next she would need to take further action to help herself truly… If she could see the wisdom in it.
But if we theorize without taking action we will never know if what we are learning works. We will end up running on the treadmill of life without change or challenge.
My challenge right now is to expose this confused yet semi-inspired moment with you all in hopes that a change might get triggered within me. Just the fact that I’m willing to expose myself in this way is change enough.
So, what’s the moral of this long-winded story?
That taking any action outside of your routine will
create a shift within you… Even if you don’t know how it will inspire that change at the time of the action.

Get yourself out of your own rut by at least getting some wheels in motion.
If you want a happier life, then you have to take the steps towards that direction. Otherwise you know where you’ll end up… Exactly where you are today. And personally, I know that although today is blessed and beautiful, I still have PLENTY to grow and learn in order to become truly free.

Helpful tip: Stop reading this and ask yourself what action (that I have been procrastinating) can I take right now?

Once you’ve decided then go do it today!!!! Let me know when you’ve done it because sometimes if we are held accountable we are more willing to follow through. 😉 Eventually, you’ll be able to hold yourself accountable and that will be enough. One day at a time!
